Visa

A Visa to Uganda can be obtained on arrival at point of entry. It costs US$50 per person. However a single East Africa Tourist Visa at US$100 is also available.You  can also apply online. www.visas.immigration.go.ug

Vaccinations

Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required at the point of entry. However if you have any other records of vaccinations please carry them with you.Seek information from your National Health office for more information about your next destination.

Safety and Security

Uganda was nicknamed the Pearl of Africa because of its stunning greenery, hospitable people, culture and summer like weather all year round. You will be welcomed with smiles as you travel to your destinations. It’s quite an exhilarating experience when you meet its people and visit the tourist destinations like Bwindi Forest Impenetrable Park.

A tourism police unit has been set up to supplement other security forces to ensure 24 hour surveillance for both citizens and foreigners.

At Rafiki Eco Safaris, we encourage people to visit not only for a short while but staying longer for business. Internet and other infrastructure are in good condition.

Destinations

The destinations are full of life.Visit the Primate capital In Kibale Forest National Park,the Climbing Lions Paradise at Queen Elizabeth National Park, the powerful water fall at Murchison falls National Park and the Endangered Gorilla habitat where you can get close to the gentle silver backs at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.          A Birding trip to Mabamba should not be missed to search for the iconic Shoebill bird and other birding spots.

Source of the Nile and Community visits are also additional activities that can be included on your itinerary.

Currency

Currency mostly used is Uganda shillings.However,United States Dollars are used along side the shilling.Foreign currencies can be exchanged at Forex bureaus.

Accomodation

Budget,Mid range and Luxury facilities exist in both the Capital city,Up country towns and destinations like the National Parks.Most hotels and lodges are priced in USD especially for hotels /lodges visited by foreign visitors.It will therefore depend on your budget and itinerary selected.

Getting around Uganda

Taxis are available at the Airport and Kampala City Centre. If you have booked with Rafiki Eco Safaris,your transport will be arranged from the Airport.

Traffic in Uganda drives on the left.Speed limit is 80km/hr on highways and 40-50km /hr in built up areas.

Climate

Temperature range from 21-25 degrees except for the Rwenzori and Mt.Elgon region which can be cooler.

Rainfall is heavy during March to May,October to November.Best times for Gorilla tracking/wild game viewing is between June to September and December to February during the dry seasons.
